How our silver jewelry class works.
From a pencil sketch to a polished ring in one or two hours. You do every step yourself, with a silversmith beside you.

From a sketch to a ring on your finger.
We work the traditional way, with a torch, a hammer and a rolling mill, the same tools Balinese silversmiths have used for generations.
Sketch your design
Look through rings made by past students, draw the piece you want, or bring a photo.
Melt & roll
Melt your silver, hammer it into a bar and roll it into wire or sheet on the mill.
Shape & solder
Bend, saw, file and solder your ring or pendant with your own hands.
Polish & wear it
Sand and polish to a mirror shine, then put it on and take it home.

A ring with a place in it.
Padi bows its head as it ripens. Good craft works the same way: patient, quiet, and made by hand.
You can buy a silver ring anywhere in Bali. Making one yourself in Sidemen means you melted the metal, hammered it and polished it, in a village valley far from the crowds.
